There’s a moment we get to witness over and over in this work, and it never gets old.
A coach’s website goes live. Sometimes there’s a screenshot in our inbox within the hour. Sometimes there’s a voice memo that’s mostly happy shrieking. Sometimes there’s a very composed email that says “it’s up” and you can feel the grin through the screen.
We’ve now had a front-row seat to a couple hundred of these weeks. And somewhere around launch fifty, we noticed something worth telling you: week one always rhymes. Different coaches, different colors, different corners of the world, same beautiful patterns.
So here’s the tour. If you’ve already launched, you’ll recognize yourself and get to relive it. If you’re pre-launch, consider this a preview of coming attractions.
Pattern one: nobody feels ready the night before
We’ll start with the pattern that comforts the most people. In a couple hundred launches, the number of coaches who felt completely ready the night before is, by our careful count, zero.
They’re rethinking their bio at 11pm. A brand-new worry appears out of nowhere, usually about something totally inconsequential.
And then the site goes live anyway, and within days the coach can’t quite remember what the panic was about. Readiness, it turns out, is not a prerequisite for launching. It’s a souvenir you pick up afterward. Every glow-up story we’ve ever celebrated started with someone who launched before they felt ready, which is to say: every glow-up story started the same way yours will.
A small confession: we bring the confetti
Here’s where we’ll admit to being completely biased. We think this milestone deserves a party, so we throw one.
Every coach who launches with us receives a little celebration kit from our team: a “My site is live!” video and a matching graphic, custom-branded to their brand-new website, ready to post the moment we push it live onto their domain. Partly because announcing yourself is easier when someone hands you the megaphone. Partly because it gives your warm center something wonderful to share (see pattern three, and yes, the book-club mom will use both). But mostly because after watching a couple hundred of these weeks, we’ve never once seen this milestone deserve to pass quietly.
We haven’t come across another web company that does this, which honestly mystifies us. A coach going live is a big deal. Someone should treat it like one.
Pattern two: the first visitor is you, and that matters more than you think
Here’s a tender little secret from the analytics side of life: in week one, a healthy share of a new site’s visits are the coach themselves. Checking it on their phone. Showing their sister. Reading their own About page like it’s about someone fascinating, because it is.
We used to think of this as a cute quirk. We’ve come to believe it’s the actual point of week one. Before the website works on the world, it works on you. There is something that shifts in a coach who can open a browser and see themselves calling with a front door. The site says “this is real” to them before it says it to anyone else.
So if you catch yourself visiting your own website eleven times before lunch, you’re on schedule.
Pattern three: the first kind words come from someone you already know
The first message rarely comes from a stranger. It comes from the certification friend who watched you build it. The former colleague who says “So THIS is what you’ve been up to!” The mom who shares it with her entire book club, twice, to be safe.
Some coaches feel sheepish about this, as if applause from your own people counts less. We’d like to formally object. Those first kind words are your website doing exactly what a website does: giving the people who already believe in you something to point at. Every practice we’ve watched grow, grew outward from that warm center. The stranger arrives later, usually holding a link your “warm center” handed them.
Pattern four: the way you introduce yourself changes
This one is our favorite, and it’s the most invisible. Sometime in week one, a coach says the words “my website” out loud in a conversation. “It’s on my website.” “I’ll send you my website.”
Watch what happens to their shoulders when they say it.
Coaches tell us versions of the same thing: the website made introducing themselves simpler. There’s now a place. Before, being a coach lived in explanations. Now it lives at an address. One coach described it as the difference between saying “I sort of do this thing” and handing someone a key. The business card conversations get shorter and warmer. The “what do you do?” question becomes fun.
Pattern five: week-one wins are small, and they are mighty
Here’s what a real week one looks like, assembled from a couple hundred of them. The first contact-form message, even when it’s a cousin. The first “your site is beautiful.” The first time a workshop attendee says “I looked you up before I came.” The bio that finally feels true on the fourth read. The Calendly button that gets its first real click.
Notice what’s on that list: moments. Notice what’s on it far less often: an avalanche. A website’s launch week is rarely fireworks over the harbor, and the coaches who know this from day one get to enjoy what week one actually is: the sound of a practice taking its first breaths. Trust builds the way rooms fill, a few genuine people at a time, and the website compounds quietly underneath all of it, confirming every “you should look them up” for years.
The avalanche was never the assignment. The address was.
The glow-up starts smaller than anyone admits
We celebrate a lot of before-and-afters in this community, and the visible ones are lovely: the site that went from zip file to open house, the brand that grew into itself, the homepage redesign that finally sounds like “them.”
But the before-and-after underneath every one of them is this: a coach who was waiting became a coach who was findable. That’s the whole glow-up. Everything else is decoration on that one brave move.
Your assignment, in two parts. If you launched recently: take a screenshot of your site this week, exactly as it is. That’s your “before” for a future celebration you can’t picture yet, and future-you will treasure it. Then go tell someone about one small win from your launch week, out loud, and let it count. (If you launched with us recently, and your “My site is live!” graphics are still sitting unposted, this is your loving nudge. Confetti has a shelf life.)
And if your launch is still ahead of you: the free Launch Guide walks you there step by step. Your week one is coming. We can’t wait to watch it rhyme.
Get Going.
